We are Brayan and Lorette, and basset hounds have been part of our lives a good deal longer than this website has. What started with one hound and a great deal of learning has grown — slowly, and on purpose — into a small breeding programme that the two of us run ourselves. No staff, no brokers, no middlemen.
We keep the numbers deliberately low. Fewer litters means our hands are on every puppy every day, and it means you get a real conversation with the people who raised your dog rather than a sales script.
Honesty before the sale. If a puppy is wrong for your home we will say so, even when it costs us. More than one of our families ended up with a different dog than the one they first asked about, and a better match for it.
Readiness before convenience. A puppy goes home when it is old enough and settled enough, not when the calendar suits us.
Answers afterwards. The relationship does not end at pickup. Message us next week or in five years and you will get a reply.
Why families choose us
Plenty of people can sell you a basset hound. Rather fewer will tell you the truth about living with one — the shedding, the drool, the ears that want checking every week, and the nose that stops listening the moment it finds something worth following. We would far rather you knew all of that before you commit than discovered it in month two.
What we offer is a small, carefully raised litter, an honest description of each puppy’s temperament, a written health record, registration papers, and someone at the other end of the phone for the whole of that dog’s life.
How our dogs actually live
Where they sleep
Our adult dogs live in a purpose-built kennel — dry, insulated, cleaned out every day and kept warm right through the winter. It was built for bassets rather than converted from something that used to be for something else.
Out with us every day
They are in the house and the yard with us daily — under the table, on the grass, generally in the way. That everyday handling is what turns a well-bred puppy into a dog that takes life in its stride.
Ready before they leave
Puppies meet the vacuum cleaner, the doorbell, children’s voices and the car long before they go home with you. First nights are far easier when nothing in your house is a surprise.
What comes as standard
Healthy, well-socialised puppies
Every puppy is examined by our vet, dewormed on schedule and started on vaccinations before leaving. They go home with a written health record and a one-year guarantee against genetic conditions.
Registration papers, your choice of rights
Puppies can go home on limited registration for pet homes, or with full breeding rights if that is what you are after. We will explain the difference plainly so you choose the one that actually fits your plans.
Safe pickup or delivery
You are welcome to collect in person and meet the dogs first — we would prefer it. If the distance is genuinely too far, we will talk through safe delivery options rather than putting a young puppy on a plane by itself.
Health, stated honestly
What we do
Our breeding dogs are under regular veterinary care and are checked over before every litter. Puppies are vet-examined, dewormed on schedule and started on their vaccinations before they go anywhere.
What we do not claim
We do not currently run formal hip scoring or DNA disease panels on our adults, and we are not going to imply otherwise. If that is important to you, ask us — we would rather lose the sale than have you believe something that is not true.
Our guarantee
Every puppy carries a one-year written guarantee against genetic conditions. If something serious appears, come straight to us. And if life changes and you cannot keep your dog, we will take them back at any age.
